Premier Guns · 18 Dec 2019

After a new shotgun between £5K and £10K? Look no futher than these three great guns for under £10K.

If you have a budget of under ten grand for your next shotgun, but you're after something a bit more special than a standard model, this article covers the £5-£10k bracket. At this price point you can get some extremely reliable, yet attractive guns. We asked the guys at Premier Guns to share their top picks under £10,000.

Beretta 687 EELL - from £6,725

Let's kick things off with the Beretta 687 EELL, a gun that needs no introduction. The quintessential game gun that has been used for generations in various calibres and forms, for both walked up and driven game shooting throughout the UK. The reason for the continued popularity of the EELL(or extra extra ‘lusso’ or luxury in Italian) is that it is essentially a beautifully worked Beretta 686 or Silver Pigeon.

The mechanics of the 680 series are bomb-proof and are hugely popular. For this pick we're choosing the latest 2019 687 EELL field gun with gamescene engraving. The gun has long coin finished sideplates with new style laser engraved gamescenes depicting Duck and Pheasant along with a much deeper scroll than on previous models.

Beretta DT11 - from £8,275

Although the Beretta DT11 is marketed largely as a competition clay gun, there are also a number of game shooting applications that it lends itself to perfectly. The wider receiver and increased forcing cones of the Steelium Pro barrels make for probably the most comfortable gun to shoot on the market. With heavy game loads you will barely know that you have pulled the trigger. We have supplied several DT11 guns to customers that shoot both big days and extreme birds and they have been extremely pleased with the guns’ performance. The pick in this price bracket is the premium grade ‘L’ model.

This model is offered with either a very handsome deep scroll engraved action or a more finely executed gamescene with deep scroll borders. The S0 style locking bolt makes for a very strong and extremely durable system and the detachable trigger group with v springs supply sublime trigger pulls and increased security, along with effortless maintenance. As an added bonus all DT11’s are supplied with Berettas B-Fast stock balancing system. This series of stock weights enables the gun to be balanced to the shooters preference. As the shooter of a DT11 L myself I have been very happy with the gun on all levels

Perazzi MX12 - from £4,495

For a number of years now the name Perazzi has been incredibly popular with UK game shots.

In this price point we have picked the MX12 game in its most basic form. Plain looks aside this is one of the best handling and well balanced guns that money can buy. The low profile ‘Boss’ style action offers an excellent between the hands feel and the crisp trigger pulls are among the best you will find. It is subtle in it’s appearance yet refined and feels superb -  you're getting artisan Italian gunmaking for a very affordable price. Furthermore the portfolio of Perazzi options is staggering.
