A bolt from the blue
Purdey, however, has broken that mould with its newly launched Bolt-Action rifle. That is not to say that Purdey’s traditions have been forgotten – the elegance and look of the rifle remain true to the style of this London Best gunmaker.

Not a heart of steel
The innovative part of the rifle is the extraordinary Purdey Chassis System – which is the very heart of the rifle. Made from titanium runs from the pistol grip to the fore-end and is embedded in a stunning walnut stock. This Chassis, which provides the most stable and sturdy of bedding platforms, is hidden from view, but runs the length of the stock, thus ensuring that the stock will not move under changing atmospheric conditions, so no matter what circumstances or weather you are stalking in, you can rely on an unchanging accuracy and strength.
This all-British product sets the Purdey Bolt-Action apart from all others –engineered and built in the UK, the stunning workmanship is immediately obvious. The double square-bridge controlled feed action and barrel are both the products of British workmanship, made in Purdey’s London workshop.

The action and barrel are both blued, and fine rose and scroll engraving continue the theme of traditional style. The lovely walnut stock comes in a pistol grip and the free-floating barrel ensure the most perfect harmonics that remain consistent, adding to the assurance of accuracy. Tested by both Marcus Janssen, former editor of Fieldsports Magazine, and Mike Yardley, the renowned journalist, from 100 to 600 yards, the rifle has shown an exceptional match-grade performance when it comes to accuracy. Marcus commented that, in his opinion, “This is the most accuracte London-made hunting rifle ever produced,” adding that it is, in his mind, “The perfect hunting tool – beautiful, it’s a Purdey, and it is outrageously accurate while being really pleasurable to shoot.”
Mike Yardley, meanwhile, said he admired the classic controlled-feed action and traditional wooden stock, “with a hidden titanium chassis set within the wood to achieve bedding stability. It results in a remarkably accurate rifle. With the .300 Winchester Magnum prototype, I managed three shots in 2in at 300 yards.”

The list of chamberings for this new Purdey would be too long to mention; suffice to say that all standard and most wildcat calibres are available, thanks to Purdey’s extraordinary library of reamers, which numbers more than 200.
With this new Bolt-Action rifle, Purdey is making history: the first of its kind to be entirely produced in Britain, it is something the team is rightly proud of, according to James Horne, Chairman of Purdey: “The team at Purdey is exceptionally proud of the new Bolt-Action Rifle. The design combines the essence of Purdey’s two hundred years of gunmaking excellence with the very latest technology and an accuracy that our forebears would have been very envious of.”

The prices for Purdey’s new Bolt-Action rifle start at £25,000+VAT, with a lead time of approximately six months on standard specifications.
